ALINCO DJ-190 DATA

OVERVIEW: The DJ-190 is a handheld 40-channel FM amateur radio transceiver able to transmit up to 5 W on 144-148 MHz. Receive range is extendable to 130-174 MHz. Can operate from wide range of internal & external voltages (4.8 – 16 VDC, typically from internal
4 AA-alkaline battery pack).

TO SET VOLUME: The up and down buttons normally set Volume (0 – 31). Use SET 16 to set Squelch.

TO SELECT FREQUENCY:
To cycle between VFO & Memory Modes, push & hold F (highest button on left side of case) & push V/M (middle button on front). Memory Mode indicated by M & Channel Numbr in Display. Dial (top right of case) tunes VFO (by selected tuning steps) or the 40 memories
(Channels 0 - 39).
To tune VFO in 1 MHz steps, push & hold F & rotate Dial. To Scan frequencies or channels, push & hold LAMP button 3 seconds. Same or PTT deselects. Can emit double beep at 0 & beep at 0.5 MHz as audio markers when tuning/scanning.

TO ENTER A FREQUENCY IN A MEMORY CHANNEL:
Enter Memory Mode & use Dial to select desired one of the 40 channels to be programmed. Enter VFO Mode & select characteristics (frequency, offset, CTCSS On/Off & tones, power). Push & hold F & push M/W Button. Memory entry confirmed by beep. Characteristics programmed for a memory (i.e. Tone on/off) may be temporarily changed while on that channel, but the original programmed characteristics are reset when the channel is left. To erase a Memory Channel, go to it, push & hold F, & push M/W.

TO SET TRANSMIT POWER: Push & hold F & push H/L Button. L in Display = low power.

TO DEACTIVATE SQUELCH MOMENTARILY: Push MONI (bottom button on left side of case).

TO USE LAMP: Push LAMP (second button from bottom on left side of case) momentarily.

TO SET MENU FUNCTIONS:
Push & hold F & push SET (bottom button on left side of case). Use ? & ? buttons to cycle among the 14 SET settings. Use Dial to select desired setting. Press PTT to set setting & exit Menu Mode.

1. Key Lock (Key Lock, Full Lock, off).
2. VFO Tuning Step (5, 10, 12.5, 15, 20, 25, & 30 kHz).
3. Frequency Shift (+, -, & Simplex = no sign).
4. Offset Frequency (norm 0.600 MHz).
5. Tone Squelch (Receive) Feature On/Off.
6. PL Tone (67.0 - 254.1 Hz).
7. Automatic Power Off On/Off.
8. Lock Out On/Off.
9. APO Time (30- 450 minutes + Off).
10. TP (0 – 15).
11. Tone Burst On/Off. Turns 1750 Hz Tone Burst On/Off.
12. Beep On/Off.
13. Skip On/Off (Go to channel, select “On” to skip it in scanning.)
16. Squelch 0 – 31 (normal 15).

TO RESET ALL SETTINGS (including mems. & extended receive): Hold in F & turn on POWER.

TO REOPEN WIDE RECEIVE FUNCTION) AFTER RESET: Push F & SET. Push V/M to display LOC. Turn VFO to FL.
Push PTT. Push F. Push V/M twice. Push MW. Push SET twice. (Display should show “Open”)
Push F & SET. Turn VFO until neither KL nor FL is shown. Push PTT.
