Major Functions of Vertex Model VX-150 Transceiver

The VX-150 is a two-meter amateur radio HT capable of transmitting 144-148 MHz at up to 5 watts & receiving 134-174 MHz, FM only. Frequency set by either of two VFO's (A & B) or 199 tunable Channels. The VX-150 is powered by an internal battery or a 6-16 VDC external source.
On top of the case are (left to right) the SMA Antenna Jack, On/Off/Volume knob, & two concentric knobs: higher is DIAL (controls frequency & other features), lower is SQUELCH.
On the left are (top to bottom) PTT (push-to-talk), Monitor, & Lamp buttons.
On the front are (top to bottom) the LCD Display, the Speaker & Mic, & a 16-key Keypad.

TO SELECT FREQUENCY USING VFO’s:
Push the VFO Button to select "A" or "B" VFO. Then either:
Tune VFO usingup or down keys or DIAL. To tune in 1 MHz steps, first push F.
OR Enter frequency by Keypad. Don’t enter the first 1; start with the second digit (i.e., to set 146.52, enter “46520”). Frequency entry is completed when the five digits are entered.
To adjust tuning step, push F then 0/SET Key. Rotate DIAL to Menu Item 6, “STEP”. Push F again & rotate DIAL to select tuning step (5-50 kHz). Push PTT to select new step.

Select desired memory channel using Dial (must be done in 5 seconds), then push F again. This programs the frequency in the memory channel & returns the VX-150 to VFO Mode.
The Home Channel can be programmed with one commonly-used or important frequency. To program Home Channel, first make sure that Menu Item 20 is set to “Home” (see below). Select characteristics in VFO mode, push F, then push the C/REV/HM Key.
